Citroen has announced that Kimi Raikkonen will join its World Rally Championship line-up in a Red Bull-backed Citroen Junior Team car, as predicted by AUTOSPORT.

The 2007 Formula 1 world champion will be joined in the Red Bull Citroen squad by former Junior WRC champion Sebastien Ogier, who completed an impressive WRC rookie season with the squad last year.

Raikkonen made his top flight rallying debut in an S2000 Abarth at his home round of the WRC in Finland earlier this year, earning the respect of the series regulars for the speed with which he adapted to driving on the stages. He has hinted for many years that he was keen to pursue a career in rallying after F1, and when he announced last month that he would take a sabbatical following the breakdown of his talks with McLaren, the WRC was seen as his most likely destination.

"I always wanted to compete in rally, especially in the World Rally Championship at some point in my career," said Raikkonen.

"Thanks to Red Bull, I have the opportunity to drive the best car of the series with the Citroen C4. This is a new but very exciting challenge."

Speculation has suggested that Raikkonen could return to F1 with Red Bull after his first WRC season. He confirmed that his Citroen deal only covered 2010 at present.

"For the moment we have a one-year contract and we will see how it goes for the future," Raikkonen said. "I am really looking forward to testing the car and taking the start of the first rally."

Citroen team boss Olivier Quesnel said he was delighted by Red Bull's increased involvement, and that the squad had such a strong Junior line-up in Raikkonen and Ogier alongside factory drivers Sebastien Loeb and Dani Sordo.

"Red Bull's commitment and energy are a perfect fit for Citroen's ongoing thirst for victory," Quesnel said. "We will continue to count on Sébastien and Dani to defend our world titles in 2010, and we will also be prolonging our association with Sebastien Ogier who showed outstanding potential this year.

"Last but not least, it is with immense joy that we welcome Kimi Raikkonen to our ranks. We are very proud that he has chosen Citroen.

"In addition to the confirmation of these four crews, we will hopefully be able to announce other programmes over the coming weeks."

Raikkonen and Ogier will contest 12 of next year's 13 WRC rounds, but will skip the New Zealand event.
ㄟ付萬 看不到kimi了
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

哭給笨蛙看的😆

Honda says it has no regrets about its decision to pull out of Formula 1 at the end of last year, despite seeing the Brawn GP team go on to capture both world championships.

The Japanese car maker felt that the worldwide financial crisis meant it could no longer continue funding an F1 programme, and it withdrew from the sport in early December.

That left the Brawn team facing a fight for survival, and it only made it onto the grid thanks to a financial injection from Honda.

Despite the fact that the withdrawal decision saved little money in the short term and failed to see it capitalise on Brawn's 2009 success, Honda's president and CEO Takanobu Ito insisted his company had still done the right thing.

Speaking to Autoweek, Ito said: "[I have] no regrets. After our withdrawal, we've seen our team doing extremely well. The reason why I say this is because of all the efforts we put into the team prior to our withdrawal that led to this result."

Ito believes the fact that Brawn has made a success of this season has actually made Honda's decision to quit easier to justify.

"Usually when we decide to withdraw our team from Formula 1 racing, there are fights and anguishes ... fortunately the team has succeeded. It has produced very good results, so people seem to be very happy which is quite unusual.

"Honda is very proud of the fact that we were able to make such a smooth withdrawal based on a very well-thought out plan.... I think we did very well with the withdrawal and after the withdrawal; we managed very quickly to inject all our resources into environmental technology development. [We are] very proud the management was so speedy in making this change."

Ito said the decision to withdraw from F1, made by his predecessor Takeo Fukui, was justified by the financial crisis and the environmental considerations that Honda needed to make.

"Just a year ago, Mr. Fakui made the decision to withdraw from Formula 1 racing and I think it was the correct decision," Ito said.

"We do love Formula 1 racing, but even more than that, we had to think about our company; following the [worldwide recession] our management environment had truly deteriorated, also due to the need to comply with environmental needs, [which meant] we had to develop new technologies. So this came first.

"I can surely say the few hundreds of people that were working on Formula 1 and the tens of billions of yen used for Formula 1, this has been converted to the development of environmental technologies."
The Monaco Grand Prix of 2010 has been moved forward by one week, GPUpdate.net has learned. Having been set to take place as a back-to-back race with Turkey, teams raised concerns over the close proximity of the events on the 19-race Formula One calendar of next season.

With the 2010 calendar looking to feature 19 races - the most ever, equalling the sum of 2005 - teams had raised concerns over the dates of the Monte-Carlo and Istanbul races in particular due to planning worries.

"That's a phenomenal logistical challenge and we, of course, want to do both events, and it's important that we do them well, but we just need to bear in mind that physically uprooting all of the infrastructure out of Monaco and moving across to Turkey is not a trivial issue," McLaren Managing Director Jonathan Neale explained last week.

As a result, there are now two-week gaps either side of the famous street race in the principality as opposed to a 3-week break after Barcelona and, more importantly, a 1-week separation until Istanbul.

The revised (provisional) calendar is now as follows:

1. The Brawn GP cars will be displaying the logos of the TNT energy drink at Interlagos next weekend after the Cervejaria Petrópolis brewery extended its deal with the Brackley team. The Brazilian company had already confirmed to run sponsorship of its beer, Itaipava, although the pact has now been increased in size.
With Canon Singapore having set up a one-race deal with Brawn for the night race in Marina Bay, Cervejaria Petrópolis agreed to run its Itaipava sponsorship for the São Paulo event but has now gone one step further to incorporate its TNT product into the deal.
TNT logos will be seen on the air intakes and rear wings of the two championship-leading cars as well as the rear wing endplates.
"We are delighted to have extended our partnership with Cervejaria Petrópolis to include their exciting new TNT Energy Drink brand," Team Principal Ross Brawn commented. "The Brazilian Grand Prix is always a fantastic occasion and, with the championships set to be decided over the final two races, Interlagos will be hosting a very exciting weekend."
Next year's model will be named 661(明年賽車的開發代號 661)
Internally Ferrari consecutively code name all their cars The F2008 was 659, the F60 was 660 and the 2010 car…661! what Ferrari will use as the 'marketing' public name for the car is still unanswered.

It will sport a high nose, and most aero will be inspired from the RB5. The article says that the Brawn is more effective but the RBR may have more development potential
Most teams will sport the Red bull technology style front chassis, the loophole around the minimum dimensions of the footwell can be exploited to create more space between the front wheel and some beneficial suspension geometry. Brawn, Toyota and BMW have all tried the false panels to prove the concept works for the drivers view. I think the rest of the RBT design will be discarded for Brawns concepts the front wing endplates, the sidepods and the diffuser. That said, some teams may use the deeper rear wing endplates (Williams and Toyota already have)
鼻錐將會傾向RB5那樣的高鼻錐 雖然BGP001的樣式效率很好 但是RB5較有開發潛力)

The F60 is a difficult car to drive, and they want to fix this with suspension work and a different weight distribution
I doubt that difficulty to drive will be top of their list, the Ferrari grips well, Alonso's style matches that of Kimi and he hasn't struggled. KERS effect ton braking is believed to be problem suffered by Badoer\Fisichella, although their lack of time in the cockpit is the root cause. Any suspension changes will be aimed at the narrower front tyres and improving tyre warm up. Weight distribution will have to change anyway as the front tyres will be so much narrower, the 50/50% set ups of this years will be eased back for a less radical 46-48% front bias.
F60是一台很難駕馭的車 他們將修正懸吊設計以及更動重量分佈

The larger fuel tank will take advantage of the space currently devoted to the KERS.
This is true enough, the KERs battery sits below the fuel tank and the oiltank cutout will be smaller as the MGU won't be there. Still more space will be needed to package the fuel race fuel load. They haven't really explained how Ferrari will do this.

In order to improve weight distribution, the engine will be placed further back.
This is one obvious way to tackle the problem, but is detrimental to aero performance and weight distribution. I suspect the driver moving forwards is more likely, along with a wider\taller tank.

Small rotating dampers might be back, because they are small and may allow a larger diffuser.
They ay be correct, but not for that reason, the dampers are nowhere near the diffuser! Brawn have run rotary dampers with some success this year, they are easy to package, but have little effect on the aero profile. The bigger diffuser (and they will be big!) will need slimmer gearbox and sump packaging, as well as a raised differential and rear impact structure
